Car Insurance Claims
At Claim Time, Help Us Help You!
Insurance often presents a conundrum for our clients: While everyone knows you need protection in case of a loss, no one wants to have that loss.
But when, despite your best efforts or simply due to everyday driver craziness, events spiral beyond your control and that loss occurs, we want to be sure your claim goes smoothly and gets paid as promptly as possible. With that goal in mind, here are steps Cloverleaf Insurance 1-800-530-5822 recommend following an auto accident:
– Stop your vehicle. The law requires you to stop, and failing to do so could result in a ticket or a warrant for your arrest. If your car is blocking traffic or is in an unsafe location, move it to a safe place nearby, but only if you can do so safely. Remain at the scene.
–Make sure everyone is safe. Call 911 for medical help if someone is injured.
– Exchange contact information. Get the names, addresses and phone numbers not only of other drivers, but also of all people involved in the accident, as well as those of any witnesses who are present.
Exchange additional information. Get the license plate numbers, insurance company names and policy numbers for all vehicles involved in the accident.
Call the police. They will decide if they should come to the scene. It’s particularly important to call the police if anyone is injured, if the accident is a hit–and -run, or if there could be any dispute about liability
Cooperate with the police. Answer their questions thoroughly and give accident details as accurately as you can. Get the number of the police report, and names and phone numbers of every officer on the scene.
Take pictures. If you have a camera, take pictures of the accident locations, damage to all the vehicles or property involved and of any other details you think could be relevant.
Call a tow company if your vehicle is unfit to drive. You are responsible for your vehicle and its repair. When the tow truck arrives, get the name, address and phone number of the company. You can decline service from unsolicited tow operators who arrive at the scene, and you can choose where your vehicle is towed.
-Contact your insurer. Report the incident to your insurance company as soon as you can.
